Ok. So my real name is Mckesley, but at work (and everywhere else) I go by Kess. Its a little easier, and shorter to spell. I have heard about every version of Mckesley and Kess that could be imagined. Cass, Kass, Kiss, Cess, Mckelsey, Mckensley, Castle ( .......really ?) etc. I have also come to expect/accept all sorts of responses..... anywhere from compliments, to insults, "Wow your parents must hate you ....... " (thanks footlocker guy). Well last week I got a new response. I was calling a company and did my usual intro... " Hi this is Kess I'm calling from ISC Bioexpress.... " and got the usual response of "I'm sorry your name is what?" But this gentleman was different, he followed with, "Oh my gosh, I can't beleive that is your name, you must get this all the time, but I loved the character off of Star Trek that was named Kes, she was so thoughtful and caring and I was devastated when her character was written off.".......... I just figured he had misheard me, went along with the conversation, and didn't think much more of it. Then today, another Treky comes out of the wood work and says, "your name is Kes, huh, I really liked that character on Star Trek." This sparked my curiosity and so I googled it. These Treky's speak the truth, there indeed was a character named Kes.
Things I've learned today-
1) There was a character on Star Trek named Kes
2) Never question a true Treky ;)
