Musical Rut (this is for you Jamie)

My latest excuse for not blogging : Our camera broke :( and I hate to blog without any pictures. So I've been avoiding it, I can't show you the amazing owl pumpkin I carved, nor the blackout Utes game we went to on Halloween or any of our other latest happenings.

I Mckesley Anne have something to confess, I have been in a dark musical rut. Nothing on I tunes stood out to me, I would by single songs here and there, but nothing I couldn't wait to listen to. Nothing that I played on repeat over and over again. Then I came across this band that I love love loved several years ago, but forgot about. I was browsing on Itunes and found them, and am again in love !! I am so relieved to again own an album that I am excited to listen to ! Though me and this album still have a lot of getting to know you to do...... I have a feeling we will be good friends for quite some time.

Please feel free to check them out: Anberlin, New Surrender.

Jamie, I hope you are happy ;) It was my goal to do a post this weekend, just for your sake. Enjoy !!

A nice surprise !!

I was brought close to tears upon my arrival home today......... why you ask. Because when I walked through my door I felt a burst of cool air. My first thought.... I must have opened the door fast and made a little woosh...... but with hope I put my hand up to the air vent and..... cool, lovely, refreshing air !! I ran to every vent in our apartment and felt each vent, and the same COLD AIR...... Hurley and I celebrated with a short but much needed happy dance !!!
To make things even better, I found my phone ! Granted it was after I bought a new SIM card for my old phone, but good news ! T-mobile will take that one back. So I am now back in communication with the world, and at a nice cool temperature.........

Aaahhh............ life is good ;)

(For those of you who don't know, or who didn't guess, our air conditioning hasn't worked in our new apartment since we moved in, it was a very hot and uncomfortable 3 weeks !! )

My new best friend.......

Dear Danby Dishwasher,

Welcome to our home ! We were so excited when we found out you would be joining our family ! You are a dream come true...... !! Sponge and washclothe did not welcome you very warmly, don't worry about them, they're just feeling a little neglected. They are used to spending at least 30 minutes a day with me, and since you've come along, well my time with them hasn't been as necessary. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make you more comfortable ( I apologize for the cheap dish detergent I bought, I promise next time to get you the good stuff) I hope you plan on staying with us for a long long time !

Love,

Kess

A bit neglectful............

My apology's .......... though I have been diligent in checking up on everyone elses blog........ I have not given any updates of my own...... sorry bout that. The last two weeks have been a blur.... it began when we found some pretty sweet deals on basement apartments on KSL. We had been going back and forth for a bit on whether to stay in our 1 room apartment longer, or to find something bigger. When we found 2 on KSL that sounded perfect, our hearts were set on getting a new place. So last Saturday, we went and saw the apartment, and about 2 hours later brought the landlord the deposit so we could call the place ours !! Sunday we started packing, and by Wednesday night we were completley moved out of our old place.... and moved into our new... that consisted of a lot of carpet cleaning , a lot of wall washing, working non stop from the minute we got off work, until about 1 am when we both would finally crash. In the end it was all worth it. We love our new place. Much more spacey, and we have a bedroom door, something you take for granted and assume you'll always have ;)

Wednesday was Ryans 23rd birthday, which he wanted to just spend at home. I made his favorite dinner, chicken enchiladas. Then we opened presents, and spent the rest of the night watching Arrested Developement, which just so happened to be one of his presents ;)

Last night we went and camped up Farmington Canyon. We took Ryans portable DVD player (another birthday present) and watched some more Arrested Developement. I know, I know, it seems a little silly to go camp, but still bring stuff to watch a movie.... but we like it ;)

I would update you about summer... but I think it would be a quite long and boring post...... so I'll just try to keep you updated a little more from here on out !!

Happy Birthday to Wii.... I mean me

I celebrated my 24th birthday this weekend, and I am sad that my birthday weekend is over. I had a celebration kick off with my ladies on Friday, we got together for dinner at Joy Luck and then went back to Ariel's to open presents and hold her sweet baby girl Serena. Thanks to my girls ! I had so much fun, and thanks for all my presents !! (We missed you Alicia and Tiff ! )
Saturday I started the morning off with presents from Ryan ! I picked up the 1st present and shook the box a little, but Ryan said, "No, No it's fragile" so I very gently peeled off the paper and lifted the lid to find a snake wrapped up, and I immediatley through the box across the room ( I couldn't have given him a better response to his practical joke ! ) Luckily, it was just a fake snake, but it still gave me the heebie jeebies !! Then on to my next present, Ryan totally surprised/spoiled me with a Wii !! I couldn't believe it ! We spent the day playing Wii play and sport. He did not like that I beat him in both tennis and golf ;) I also got a surgery game that is way fun, you get to perform different surgeries, its crazy. We went to brunch at One Man Band which is a divey dinner, but has awesome breakfasts, and Alicia and Johnny joined us since Alicia didn't make it to dinner the night before . We ended the night by going to see Royal Bliss in concert, which was fun. I don't quite feel like I fit into the concert scene much anymore though ;)
It was a fun weekend, thanks all for celebrating with me !!

We did it !!

In January my sister in law Lindsey talked me into running a mini triathlon with her, and yesterday we did it !! It was fun (even though today I feel like I've been hit by a car) I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted, so I wasn't where I wanted to be physically, but I still completed it, which was my goal ;) I'd like to thank the 67 year old woman who as she was passing me on her bike said, "come on were going to do this !" What an awesome lady ! At 67 running triathlons. I thought, if this lady can do it at her age, I have no excuses ;) Also, thanks to my awesome family and friends who came out to support me ! I love you guys !

After the race we celebrated by going to JCW's.. They have awesome burgers and fries, and even awesomer (yes awesomer) shakes. If you go there I highly recommend the peanut butter and cookies dough shake. Yum !

Instead of going home and crashing, Ryan and I went camping up Farmington canyon. It was fun ! Ryan was very proud of his fire that he started with no matches. Go babe ! All in all it was a very busy and very fun weekend. Um... if you need me... I'll be napping on my couch because I am pooped !

Ok, Let's Recap.......

Where to begin ? Ryan and I celebrated our first anniversary on May 3rd ! Were officially old news ;) We were lucky enough to spend our anniversary at the happiest place ever....... Disneyland !!

We left for our trip on April 30th and we drove there. Good thing I have gotten over my car sickphase, or that would have been an impossible drive for me. The drive there actually was not as bad as I expected it to be. We only stopped once, in St. George. We both thought it was pretty funny, normally when we just go down to St.George for the weekend or something, we end up making one or two rest stops before we get there, but driving to California which takes twice as long, we were able to make it on one stop total. I credit that to my awesome road trip treat picking out abilities, and Ryans amazing choice in DVD's to watch ;) I wouldn't let us watch the DVD's until we were half way. So down to St George we listened to our California road trip soundtrack which consisted of songs that merely mentions the word California or Disneyland ;) Then we solved some pretty awesome riddles, then finally the half way mark came and we were able to pop in the 2nd season of Arrested Development. I just need to say to those of you who have not watched this show, You must, you simply must, few shows can make me have a deep hearty belly laugh... but this show does !!

Day 1
Knotts Berry Farm:

Neither of us had been here and had a blast. By far my favorite ride there was Ghostrider which is a huge wooden roller coaster. The white roller coaster at Lagoon doesn't hold a candle to this thing. The picture is of a guy doing an amazing Indian dance where he danced with a bunch of hoops and would make a bunch of different shapes, animals, etc with them. Very cool. I had the best berry punch ever. I am not a punch fan, but this Knotts berry punch was amazing. Seriously, its a must try if any of you ever get there. Ryan one a basketball of a team he doesn't like, he was so close to winning a jersey! Still the ball was way cool ;) Ryan and I discovered that we are no longer 13 and can eat half a pizza and then go ride a bunch of roller coaster. We ate breakfast about 30 minutes before getting to the park, rode two roller coaster, then took an hour break and rode kids rides because we were about ready to lose our breakfast ;)

Day 2

Six Flags !!

Six Flags is insane !! By the time we had been at the park 4 hours we had only ridden on 2 coasters. We started with Ryans fav the Viper. Then headed to X2....... where we enjoyed a nice 3 hour wait in line. Though the wait is long, this coaster does not disappoint. As soon as the restraints locked I turned to Ryan and said, " I immediately regret this decision." This coaster is different because the way your seat is positioned there is no track under you...... it goes from near vertical drops, your seat rotating 360 degrees, flying through fog, and flames, and all the usual flips and turns. Way fun !! It defiantley made the other coaster I used to think was scary seem like kiddy rides ;) Six flags is fun, but it tires me out more then most parks, but we rode all the rides we both wanted to ride !

Day 3

Happy Anniversary in Disneyland !!

Day 3 was our 1st Anniversary. And where better to spend it than at Disneyland. I seriously love that place ! The picture is of us at Cafe Bayou, which is the restaurant you can see from inside of the Piractes of the Carribbean ride. It is so pretty. It is set up to look like your eating outside at night on the Bayou and your only light is from paper lanterns that you can't see too well in this picture. Very fun ! Its a fancy place so it feels weird cause everyone is there all sweaty in there sneakers and jeans etc. Neither Ryan or I were hungry, but it was the last opening they had, so we took it !! Who knows when else we'll get a chance to eat there again! We went on all our favorites starting as tradition with the Maderhorn. I would have to say my favorites are Tower of Terror, and Indiana Jones, but I really loved all the rides we went on. I thought the new Finding Nemo submarine ride was fun, even though I think submarines are creepy. I think they remind me of whales, and whales in open ocean are creepy....... Disneyland was also nice enough to have a fireworks display in honor of our anniversary........ ;) Disneyland was amazing and I didn't want to leave !!

Day 4
Beachy Beach

Aaaahhhh. By far the most relaxing day of the trip ! We went to Hunnington beach. We had fun just laying on the beach, and playing in the water. We went out to play in the water and I think Ryan forgot that I am about a foot shorter than him, because he wanted us to keep going out farther in the water, when the waves were already over my head. After my 3rd time of being carried back to shore by the waves I called it quits ;) Ryan refused to let me bring seashells home, but I can't blame him. Last time I left my shells in a drawer for a few days, which stunk up the room like fish, then when I took them out of the drawer I had a bag full of sea creatures. I guess I had picked shells that weren't empty yet . Opps !

Day 5

The long drive home. I was actually expecting the drive home to take longer, but it seemed faster to me. I think that is because I drove half the time, and going down I was so excited to get there !! All in all we had an awesome trip and I am so glad we were able to do that for our anniversary !!

Where was the warm greeting ??

So every Tuesday I go swim from 9-10, get home about 10:30 and always have my hubby and doggy waiting for me. This was not the case tonight. No tail wagging, no hug, no snuggling while watching tv til I fall asleep. Ryan went and watched the Jazz game at his parents house, and took Hurley for a visit as well. I missed my welcoming commity. I am so grateful for my little family and am so content in our lives. I am so grateful that we have the evenings to spend together right now, and am trying to cherish this time, because I know that will end as police officers generally don't work 9-5 ;)

ok random, but hey atleast this gives me a good excuse to put another pic up ;)

Hello Spring !!

So I didn't realize it was the first day of Spring until I started hearing at work the many of the University's were closed (Universitys are our main customers) uuhh... what the crap ??? Why didn't I ever get the first day of Spring off ??? Anyways, the coming of Spring always makes me feel ambitious......... here are some of the things I want to do

1)Plant some flowers in pots by my front door, and clear out some of the junk on the side of the house. I don't like that the first thing I see when I step out my door is the stinky garbage cans.

2)Mow the lawn. It loses its appeal after the first few times ;)

3)Wash the walls. My husband the Spider phobe sprayed spider killer on every inch of our apartment, now we have streaks all over the whole wall where the spray ran down the walls....... doesn't look the cleanest when the sun shines in our apartment and reveals this.

4)Make salads !!! Salads always sound good when the weather gets nicer ( well atleast to me )

5)Take my doggy on more walks ! Poor little girl needs to get out and stretch her legs more, too bad her mean parents are too lazy !

6)Go camping !! The air smelt like a campfire the other night and it made me so excited to go camp !!

7)Get a bike helmet. Suddenly riding a bike I no longer feel safe without one. I don't think I have ever owned a bike helmet in my life, but suddenly feel an urgency to get one.

8)Shop! Shop! Shop! - K so the ladies at work went to Bookoo's today and came back to show off the new treasure they bought, and now I feel the sudden need to spend money. I will try to resist, but I make no promises.

9) Watch the all of the Pirates of the Caribbean...... why..... ? I'm not too sure. Just feel the need !

k, my breaks up..... thats all you get !!!!!

My apologies.........

My sincerest apologies go out to the few people that read my blog....... The whole posting thing hasn't happened for a bit. Here is a rundown of what we've been up to:

Got a new car ! - We got a Subaru Legacy that we love !! I had forgotten what it was like to drive a car that didn't have a ton of corks such as: random dinging, window whistling, staticy speakers, no A/C, makeshift break lights, no gas door cover, ripping seats........ etc. ;) I would like to express my love for my Tiburon, it was my first car purchase, and as much as I had grown to resent that vehicle I cried on the way to drop it off at the dealership ( I'm an idiot I know ) it felt like I was sending the poor worn out vehicle to its death !

Valentines Day! - Valentines was great ! Ryan surprised me at work with a flower delivery the day before, which was much needed as my day at work was terrible. Valentines we went to dinner at Joy Luck and he took me to see Twilight ! (never thought that would happen) Thanks to my hubby, I love him lots !

Illness! - I have had several severe colds this winter, one of which I enjoyed last week ! But I am on the mend ! It set me back on my triathlon training so I'm working extra hard this week to make up for that !

Spring is .........Springing???- I have loved and been greatful for the warm weather the last few days ! There is a light at the end of this dark tunnel called winter !!

Turkey dinner!- Ryan and I made a turkey dinner all by ourselves Sunday and shared it with my parents, Bridgette, and Swaycee . I have to say it turned out pretty good. Its going to take awhile for me to get my stuffing as good as my moms though ;)

Crafts anyone ?- I have felt the urge to do crafts latey. I have not had time to give into these urges and am trying to decide on one or two projects instead of the 10 that sound fun, since I tend to not finish what I start !

Ok that should hold you over until next month ;) jk I'll try to be more dedicated!

Ya learn something new everyday.....

Ok. So my real name is Mckesley, but at work (and everywhere else) I go by Kess. Its a little easier, and shorter to spell. I have heard about every version of Mckesley and Kess that could be imagined. Cass, Kass, Kiss, Cess, Mckelsey, Mckensley, Castle ( .......really ?) etc. I have also come to expect/accept all sorts of responses..... anywhere from compliments, to insults, "Wow your parents must hate you ....... " (thanks footlocker guy). Well last week I got a new response. I was calling a company and did my usual intro... " Hi this is Kess I'm calling from ISC Bioexpress.... " and got the usual response of "I'm sorry your name is what?" But this gentleman was different, he followed with, "Oh my gosh, I can't beleive that is your name, you must get this all the time, but I loved the character off of Star Trek that was named Kes, she was so thoughtful and caring and I was devastated when her character was written off.".......... I just figured he had misheard me, went along with the conversation, and didn't think much more of it. Then today, another Treky comes out of the wood work and says, "your name is Kes, huh, I really liked that character on Star Trek." This sparked my curiosity and so I googled it. These Treky's speak the truth, there indeed was a character named Kes.

Things I've learned today-

1) There was a character on Star Trek named Kes

2) Never question a true Treky ;)

The pressure of a first blog......

Ok, so I have resisted getting a blog for quite some time, but I gave into my friends peer pressure. Now I can't promise that my blogs will be frequent, but I will try. It's intimidating knowing that people will actually be reading something I wrote, there is a certain amount of pressure to make it even more entertaining.......

I guess I will start with some introductions:

Ryan: Ryan is my hubby. He is 22, works for a medical billing company, and is working on his Criminal Justice degree. As of next week we will have been married for 9 months. Crazy ! He loves watching lost, especially with his way fun wife ;) Loves basketball (Jazz) and football (Utes/Broncos).

Hurley: Our pride and joy !! She is named after Hurley on Lost, cause were obsessed with that show. She is a Beabull, which is a mix between a bulldog and beagle. Hurley likes to........ well sleep. That is about all she does. She occasionaly likes to chew on a good ol raw hide, but for the most part, she'll just cuddle up on the couch and snooze. Ryan actually caught her sleeping with her eyes open last night. Creepy ! She is way spoiled, and we tend to humanize her way to much. For example, adding dialog for her to conversations ;)

Kess: Thats me ! I am 23 and work for a lab product distributer. I spend most of the day on the phone taking orders. Its nice cause I work in the same city that I live, so no commute !! I'm pretty easy going . Its nice being able to just go home and spend time with my husband and not worry about school work etc. (still getting used to that freedom ) My sister in law talked me into doing a mini triathalon with her, so I am currently training for that. Thats about all I can think of to tell you about me. More will come out in the future I'm sure ;)
P.S Sorry my picures at work are limited. So this is a picture of our doggy Hurley. I don't know how to fix pictures within the post yet.... so this will have to do.
